While working from my studio in Oregon, I developed a unique technique using scraps of fabric I had collected during my five years in Nairobi, Kenya. These pieces became the building blocks for intricate patterns and images that evoke my memories of that time. The result—a hybrid of mosaic and collage—transforms personal experience into a visual language that invites connection and reflection.

Building on this technique, I began incorporating small photographic fragments—castoffs from my husband’s darkroom—to create works inspired by our life in the US Virgin Islands. I introduced acrylic paint to heighten contrast and enrich the relationship between figure and ground. A recurring theme in these works is water, a natural reflection of our island surroundings
